Last week, DigiDame told you about Yahoo buying a news-aggregator for $30 million that had been created by a 17-year-old student. Turns out the story may not have such a happy ending. News just broke that there may be a copyright situation going on.

How legal is it to take someone else’s original material and alter it? Summly is an app that uses an algorithm to automatically digest stories. Yahoo wanted to take stories from the web and shorten them for mobile devices.

This is going to be an interesting story to follow. Everyone is aggregating stories for blogs and news sites. A lot of people are going to be jumpy about this. Just another day in the Internet evolution.
