One of the big topics on social media this past weekend was Walgreens’ move into primary care. I am happy about it. As an upwardly-mobile person who is becoming a full-fledged member of the senior citizen generation, it comforts me to know that if I don’t feel well help is just a few blocks away, no matter where I am in the United States.

Walgreens will have nurse practitioners and physician assistants at more than 300 “Take Care Clinics” in 18 states. They will write prescriptions, refer patients for additional tests and help manage chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and high cholesterol.

  1. This creates the potentially dangerous situation where Walgreens medical staff will be recommending medical supplies that are sold in Walgreens stores. There will be cases, therefore, where drugs and materials of borderline medicinal value are being pushed by those who stand to improve their businesses by doing so.

  2. I used Walgreen’s Clinic about a week ago for a Shingles Vaccine injection.
The service was relatively quick and very professional.
I recommend it . Great convenience.
