Joan Rivers is proving that you don’t have to be a 21-year-old kid to be famous on the Internet. In just a few short months, Joan’s show, In Bed With Joan, is becoming one of the most popular online talk shows. Of course, being vulgar helps draw a crowd.

No matter what you think about Joan’s humor, you have to admire (okay, at least I do) her courage to reinvent herself on the Internet. Joan finds the Internet so liberating (she can say whatever she wants to) that she now says she might even ditch performing in comedy clubs. It didn’t take Joan long to realize that if you have something interesting on the Internet, your audience will find you.

Of course, Joan has discovered the power of Twitter (@joan_rivers) and Facebook. She has disciplined herself to post several times a day and engage in dialogue. I have no idea where she finds the time. She also stars in her own TV reality series on WE TV, Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? and on E! Entertainment Television’s Fashion Police.
