My girlfriend Ruth sent this video to me this morning because I told her why I hate taking the subway. You get to a certain age and you say “Enough.”
At 65, I am still working. I want to work forever but I don’t want to put myself in harm’s way, twice a day on the subway. I am not saying that I can’t get hurt above ground but at least I can make a run for it.
I hate being confined in a moving box (or sometimes caught between stations) when someone is threatening others, talking to themselves, touching themselves, touching someone else, screaming, ranting, raving, smells like a toilet, is wearing a mask, or takes dump on the floor. Eliot doesn’t seem to mind it. I find it unnerving. I think Eliot focuses on the half-price discount we now get because we are officially senior citizens.
Eliot thinks I am over-reacting. I feel he doesn’t react enough. Everyone has the right to choose. Watch the video below for another slice of life on the rails.
Lois,
That really had me hysterical with laughter. After the first 2 or 3 panhandlers, I figured out what was happening, but it was very entertaining! A funnier situation than the one I told you about with the nut case on the platform attacking me, and defending myself with my umbrella!
I remember your umbrella story. I can picture you now.
very funny… makes me want to ride the subway
Bring a stick
Hubby and I had the brilliant idea of taking the DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) train downtown for New Year’s Eve a couple of years ago. Epic Fail! I can’t imagine being stuck underground with those drunks.
Thank you. Finally someone understands.
