It’s hard not to be talking about Twitter all the time — it’s where most of the action has been lately. Today the social media platform announced that it was entering the eCommerce arena for the first time, in partnership with American Express. I never imagined this would happen, and I couldn’t even picture how it would work. So I checked into it.
The entire process was spelled out in USA Today. I’ve excerpted the most important facts for you here:
- Twitter has partnered with American Express.
- You have to be an American Express cardholder to buy products through Twitter.
- You must use the hashtag symbol — # — to identify what you want to buy.
- You check your own Mentions tab for a confirmation hashtag from @AmexSync.
- You have 15 minutes to tweet the confirmation after which your item will be shipped.
I am hoping a few of you will try the Twitter-American Express eCommerce concept and let us know if it works well.
