I Just Had to Dash This Off

I just finished the book,“Kris Jenner …and All Things Kardashian.” I actually listened to it on Audible every day when I took my half hour walk on the treadmill. You can smirk all you want about the Kardashians, but they are a good case study in branding, purpose, and passion. I was eager to listen to Kris Jenner tell her story because I have been involved in so many business discussions where someone asked, “How did the Kardashians ever become so rich and famous?” I even have a very straight-laced, intellectual cousin, Richard Levine, who asks me that question over and over. He thinks I should know the answer because of my background in PR.

I now know the answer and I am willing to spell it out. It’s going to take a few posts because this story is better in small doses. The one thing that annoys me are the cynics who will learn nothing from what I am about to say. Instead of taking the life lessons that Kris is willing to share, too many folks want to dismiss the Kardashians as talentless characters who “are famous for being famous.” This blog post is not about defending the Kardashians, but rather about what they claim you need to do to be successful. If you are going to spend all your time dissing them as you read my words, then you are going to miss learning things that might help yourself, your children, and perhaps your grandchildren.

Kris Jenner herself fits into the DigiDame demographic. She is midway through her 50s, is an early adopter of technology, and keeps reinventing herself over and over no matter what challenges she faces. She is not rich and famous because she got lucky. She is rich and famous because she knows how to capitalize on her assets, is willing to take risks, learns from her failures, and most of all knows how to move on. Too many of us like to blame our hardships on not succeeding. Kris has had her share of horror stories too. She is just good at understanding that they are a part of life. Kris believes we all have a lot of living to do.

More tomorrow.

  1. Lois, I’ve been asking the same question for years even though I’m not their fan! I’m reading your posts, thanks.
