The constant threats from North Korea to nuke the United States is giving many baby boomers a very uneasy feeling. That’s why it is always so important for the United States never to let its guard down. We can’t let 9/11 happen again.
Boston Dynamics for the Department of Defense’s Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) is doing its part to help protect our country. BD is using very sophisticated robots to test protective clothing against chemical agents.
Nicknamed PETMAN, the robot climbs stairs, marches, squats, twists its torso, and looks around. This is all part of an effort to test the quality of clothing. PETMAN has sensors embedded in its skin that detect any chemicals leaking through the suit.
PETMAN is an anthropomorphic robot with natural agile movements. This is necessary for PETMAN to simulate how a soldier stresses protective clothing under realistic conditions.
