Larry Page and Sergey Brin used to work here. In fact, this is the Santa Clara, California, garage where they started their business. They started out calling their company BackRub. Then Larry and Sergey realized that the BackRub name was not ideal for a search engine. After long discussions, they picked Google.
An explanation on the Internet claims. “It was play on the word “googol,” a mathematical term for the number represented by the numeral 1 followed by 100 zeros. The use of the term reflects their mission to organize a seemingly infinite amount of information on the web.”
We can all agree Larry and Sergey did great work in that garage. We can’t live without our Google.
t
that’s amazing
So interesting. Hard to believe Backrub would have made it. Names do matter.
Just goes to show . Big things can happen anywhere!
