If you didn’t see “The Tonight Show” on Thursday night, then you missed an incredible moment in digital history. Don’t fret. I included it here. Jimmy Fallon used an iPad app, named Loopy HD to sing “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” with Billy Joel.
Loopy HD costs $7.99 and allows users to layer recordings of singing, beatboxing, or instruments.
Business Insider explained that Fallon used the app to create a four-part background vocal harmony of the duo singing “aweema-wep, aweema-wep, aweema-wep, aweema-wep” before proceeding singing the song.
Congrats Loopy HD. That was a PR happening.

It truly was a great moment. A friend of mine’s brothers were two of the Tokens and have received song writing credit for the song. She immediately used Facebook to alert her West Coast friends of the event. Last night Fallon followed this up by having Kevin Bacon do a huge dance routine based on the 30th anniversary of his “Footloose” movie.
While I cried when Leno left, Fallon is a true talent. Let’s see if he can keep it going.
Very cool, totally fun to watch, and this may be one reason I don’t have my own late night talk show, but if Billy Joel was my guest, I would have let him take the lead on that song. Just saying.
That is why we are thisclose. I was thinking the same thing. Billy Joel has always been a gentlemen.
