Defying the Demographics

20130413-230252.jpg

My career may have been saved today by another 60-year-old-plus woman. Maybe she was even in her 70s. All I know is that I got a renewed respect for myself at the Audio Show today when a senior gal showed up to test the high definition portable audio player my client Astell&Kern was introducing.

Joan Rivers Is an Internet Pioneer at 78

Joan Rivers is proving that you don’t have to be a 21-year-old kid to be famous on the Internet. In just a few short months, Joan’s show, In Bed With Joan, is becoming one of the most popular online talk shows. Of course, being vulgar helps draw a crowd.

A Birthday Celebration

20130412-233503.jpg

Guess where I am? Right after work, we drove out to Hampton Bays to meet my brother Steve and sister-in-law Susan to celebrate his birthday, a biggie. Susan and Steve love The Inn Spot, a gourmet restaurant and Inn that sits right on the bay, a short walk from the ocean.

Look who is still pitching after all these years

A year ago April 13th, I started DigiDame. I want to thank all my loyal readers who have stuck by me. I really appreciate your support. Thank you.

I want to give a special thanks to Susan Leigh Babcock who proofs my copy, sometimes In the wee hours of the morning. She does the best she can with carefree me. It’s not easy trying to edit someone who changes copy several times after posting, and so late in the day. Or night. Thank you, Susan.

Kiss the PC Goodbye

20130411-215316.jpg

I think it’s becoming pretty apparent to everyone that the PC as we know it will not be around. Reuters just reported that personal computer sales fell 14 percent in the first three months of 2013, the biggest decline in two decades. The pubic is favoring tablets. That also means that Microsoft Corp’s new Windows 8 system is not reaching its goals.

My Brain Hurts Just Thinking About This

The great thing about being in tech is that you get to read news sites that tell you all about new breakthroughs in all areas of life. Here is some startling news that everyone should know about.

There is a new technique to make tissues transparent so that scientists can get a three-dimensional view of neural networks. This is great news for the medical community who wants to map the brain’s complicated wiring. Scientists could use the technique to view large networks of neurons with ease and accuracy. The technology also opens up new research avenues.

The video explains it better.

Cher, Margaret Thatcher

Rumors that Cher died on April 8th were a Twitter blunder. Margaret Thatcher died last Monday. However, when some Twitter users used the hashtag #nowthatchersdead (now Thatcher’s dead) to let others know about the British Prime Minister’s death, it was misread by loyal Cher fans (now that Cher’s dead) who freaked. Hundreds of thousands went into instant mourning.

For those of you who do not use Twitter, let me remind you that the hashtag # is used on Tweets so that everyone talking about the same topic can search for comments on the subject. This is usually a very civilized format.

RIP Margaret Thatcher

Long Live Cher

Barry Diller Gets Foxy

20130409-223941.jpg Diane von Furstenberg and Barry Diller I find it interesting that Barry Diller, husband of Diane von Furstenberg, is putting the royal screws to a company he headed up for eight years. Diller served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FOX from 1984 to 1992. He was responsible for the creation of Fox Broadcasting Company in addition to FOX’s motion picture operations. Social Media Gets Too Social

20130409-221016.jpg

The cartoon above was meant as a joke, but as far as I am concerned that is exactly the direction we are headed. Technology today allows users to share info with others more than ever before. Every company and service wants in on the action. Continue reading

Your Dreams May No Longer Be Private

After all these years, your dreams may be broadcasted in a public forum. Japanese scientists have developed an algorithm that reveals what dreamers see from their neurological patterns.
