Cell Phone Case Sheds Proper Selfie Lighting

Wherever I go, whatever I do, I see people taking a selfies. This used to be a young thing to do, but now I see grandmas and grandpas staging their own self-portraits. It makes me smile when I see more mature people connected to the digital world.

It also amazes me that most 50-plus folks are not at all shy while posing. I see them holding in their stomachs, stretching their necks and checking out their better facial sides. I’m not sure what everyone is doing with their selfies, but many of them are showing up on social media platforms.

I’m here to help. I want to tell you about the selfie gadget the Kardashians use to get the best images possible. It’s a cell phone case called Lumee and it sells for approximately $55 on Amazon. Made for Apple and Android, the case has a frame of LED panels that properly light your face. The Lumee was engineered to highlight makeup, glam, and all kinds of contrasts. The clever case has different light intensities for different opportunuties.

I was told that the case is very easy to use and it’s doubles as a flashlight. No more flumbling through all of your apps to find a flashlight. Lumee has a single button to light up your immediate surroundings. Very convenient!

HWH PR and Waterpik want to raise money for a cancer care charity called Hope Lives. Hope Lives provides women with free, complimentary care services including: Lymphatic Massage, Naturopathic Medicine, Mastectomy Supplies & Prosthetics, Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Exercise & Yoga, Nutrition Counseling, Therapeutic Massage, Healing Touch, Reiki, Counseling, Housecleaning, Personal Care, Transportation, Meal Preparation, Errands and More.

HWH and Waterpik want to conduct an online celebrity silent action so we can raise money for Hope Lives. All we need is a celebrity to decorate a Waterpik Water Flosser with pens, colored pencils, stickers, etc. We will supply all of the materials needed. The more celebs we get, the more money we raise.

Waterpik Press Party

I was in New York two weeks ago for a wedding and, now, we’re back again because our PR agency, HWH PR, hosted a press party for our client, Waterpik. The company was introducing several new water flossers.

I wanted to find a unique location for the introduction because most of the media has already seen it all: nightclubs, restaurants, galleries, hotels suites, and event spaces.

I decided to ask my friends, Jillian Crane and Al Kahn of CraneKahn Entertainment, if I could use their “townhouse in the sky” for the party. Miraculously, they said yes. I am forever grateful because it was a perfect setting for our guests: fashion, beauty, and health editors.

Camouflaged To Protect The Guilty

I just couldn’t help myself. I had to photograph the guy who sat next to me this morning in the American Airline terminal at the Miami International Airport. He conducted a private business conversation out loud for 20 minutes. I heard every detail of a legal snafu that involves the breakup of two partners.

This guy is a lawyer. Don’t you think he should have know better? I kept wondering what his client would have thought if he or she knew his lawyer was broadcasting his business all over the place.

At first I thought about outing this guy and letting his picture go viral. I changed my mind after some soul searching. Maybe this person is a decent human being and he made one foolish mistake.

I don’t think so, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I truly wonder why people talk so loud on a cell phone. They have to know the whole world is listening in. I guess they like it that way. They are just so rude. There should be a law against loud cell phone users . They are disturbing the peace.

If you know this guy, or have any connection to him, please be sure to pass along this message, “shut up.”

A few months ago, I started a Facebook group page called “The CE Legends: The Unauthorized History.” I wanted a place where members of the consumer electronics/tech industry could reminisce about people and experiences.

I don’t control the page. Everyone participates. I did decide to talk about my late friend Warren Zorek the other day because of something his children posted on Facebook. I wanted to share it with you.

Make Up Your Mind, Amazon

I am so confused. I embraced the digital world in my 60s, like I was 20. I have trained myself to write all of my notes on my iPhone (no paper). I read everything online ( no print). I mainly communicate through social networks (I cut back on telephone use). I completely turned my life around to fit into the digital revolution.

You can imagine my dismay when I learned that Amazon recently decided to open 300 to 400 brick-and-mortar bookstores in the coming years. I felt like someone told me the last few years didn’t exist. I hope it did.

What the heck is this all about? Don’t get me wrong. I love bookstores. It was very much a part of my social life. Eliot and I would spend hours roaming through the shelves of bookstores in our neighborhood, or when we went to new cities. We would spend a hundred plus dollars every visit. It was our fantasyland.

But all that has changed. The hours we spent in book and record stores, are now devoted to exploring the Internet. I love Amazon for many reasons, but I don’t understand why they are now reversing their corporate culture. All they are going to do is put whatever bookstores are left out of business

This is another case of the big, getter bigger.
