Drones Replace Live Models At Dolce & Gabanna Fashion Show

I know someone who was actually involved in the deployment of drones during the recent Dolce & Gabanna fashion show in Milan. The Italian luxury fashion house flew seven drones down the runway, each carrying a leather and jewel-encrusted handbag from the company’s latest Fall Winter 2018/19 collection.

My friend told me the entire production was first talked about two years ago. It took this long to create the precise tech extravaganza. The drones had to be in exact formation in order to show off the very pricey handbags. Dolce & Gabanna wanted to be sure everyone in the audience got to see all of the details of their creations.

The publicity on the show got picked up in both tech and fashion publications. The media was enchanted with this new approach in fashion runway shows.

It was completely different than anyone has ever seen before. The video of the show is available above this story.

Vanity Fair

I’m in a very creative mood. I love stories that energize me. I wanted to share some of the ones that recently spurred me on to think about new projects.

This one from Vanity Fair talks about the family fight for the thousands of paintings and sculptures that Picasso left behind. Understanding the depth of Picasso’s work makes me realize just how prolific he was and much time he devoted to his art.

Sheila Elias

This is a short video about my artist friend Sheila Elias. I’ve written about her before because she is a fabulous inspiration to those of us who want to keep creating as we age.

A Drone And Desserts

This was the scene tonight at Books and Books in Coral Gables, Florida. We were sitting in the courtyard of this famous Miami bookstore, nibbling on desserts, when all of a sudden, we see a very bright red light above us. Everyone looks up and gasps. The drone was coming right at us. Luckily its pilot was standing nearby, so he sent the unmanned vehicle in another direction. Whew, it was scary, but fun to watch the drone in the pitch black sky.

Robots Delivering To Robots

You have to watch this video to witness what the world will be like in the not too distant future. Drones will be able to land on moving cars. Some of those cars may even be self-driving ones.

Imagine that you have been driving for an hour to a friend’s home. You suddenly  realize that you forgot your wallet on the kitchen table. That happened to me once. I was carrying so many bags, I didn’t realize that I left my wallet home. I made Eliot turn around so I could retrieve my most important cards and papers, because we were going to be away for the weekend. Eliot was not too happy, but he did it anyway.

This kind of a situation may never happen again in a few years. There will be a time when you can commission a drone to get what you left behind. Hopefully, someone is at home to help with this task.

Watch the video provided by CNET so you can see how a drone lands on a car. You can also read about it here.
