Virtual Reality Enters Real Estate

If you want to know more about the potential of virtual reality in real estate, watch CNBC’s Power Lunch’s feature on the topic. Two Million Dollar Listing Brokers, New York and Miami, share their opinions.

Shopping for new digs will never be the same. The world of virtual reality is slowly becoming increasingly popular in real estate offices all over the United States.

A real estate broker friend of mine, Juan Carlos  Zapata, of Douglas Elliman, Fort Lauderdale, FL, got his first taste of what it will be like to use a VR headset in order to sell condos and homes in far away places.

Potential buyers will be able to take a virtual tour of real estate properties without leaving the comfort of the broker’s office. It’s just like being on location. You get to walk and see each room in a 3D atmosphere. Some people get a little woozy with the headset on, but JC said he didn’t have a problem.

Watch his experience below.

A Quick Lesson In Virtual Reality

I think I mentioned this before, but I want to be sure all DigiDame readers are familiar with Virtual Reality (VR), the most exciting technology that will emerge in the next few years. It’s going to be interesting  to see if it will infiltrate our demographic area and how well we will receive it.

Goldman Sachs just announced that VR will be an $80 billion market by 2025. See the announcement here. I urge you to watch the three minute video below so you clearly understand what the excitement is all about.

According to Wikipedia, virtual reality artificially creates a sensory experience, which can include sight, touch, hearing, and smell.

Everyone is jumping on the virtual reality bandwagon.

Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue is now offered in VR. Check it out here.

A Quick Look at Virtual Reality

If you watch the above video, you will get to see what virtual reality looks like. I know many of you have heard of virtual reality before but do not know exactly what it means. According to Wikipedia, “Virtual reality (VR) is a computer-generated environment that can simulate physical presence in places in the real world or imagined worlds.” Many video game companies are totally involved in virtual reality.

I thought it would be interesting for you to understand virtual reality, now that Facebook just bought The Oculus Rift, virtual reality head-mounted display company, for $400 million in cash, $1.6 billion in Facebook stock.

Oculus Rift was at CES but no one had a clue that it would one day be a Facebook company. Facebook has big plans to take a lead in this product category. Virtual reality is finally going to take center stage and we get to be a part of it,
