One of the big topics on social media this past weekend was Walgreens’ move into primary care. I am happy about it. As an upwardly-mobile person who is becoming a full-fledged member of the senior citizen generation, it comforts me to know that if I don’t feel well help is just a few blocks away, no matter where I am in the United States.
Walgreens will have nurse practitioners and physician assistants at more than 300 “Take Care Clinics” in 18 states. They will write prescriptions, refer patients for additional tests and help manage chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and high cholesterol.
