I spent the day chasing public safety writers and TV producers in order to get them interested in a story no one has done before. So far no takers. I have been down this road before. Pioneering a new concept or product is not easy. You have to work the press day and night until you get your first hit. Then others follow.
By now, many people have portable music players. They are better known as MP3 players. Music lovers use MP3s while they exercise, take long trips on airplanes and trains, drive in a car, are in
between appointments, and just relax. They are a wonderful invention.
What you don’t know is that most audiophiles (true sound aficionados) don’t consider the sound quality of MP3 players to be very good. In fact, many believe that the music has been distorted so much that no one is really hearing studio sound. Enter Astell&Kern AK 100. This is the first high definition portable music player.
My agency, HWH PR, is involved in the introduction of this unit. We demoed it to the music world at the New York Audio Show this past weekend. The terror attack at the Boston Marathon reminds us all of how vulnerable we are no matter where we live. The minute I heard the news, I emailed my girl friend Barbara O’Connell who lives in Boston with her husband Frank, a client of mine several times over, to see if they were safe.
She immediately emailed back, “It’s like 911 all over again.” Thoughts of the day flashed in my brain instantly. We all felt so confused, isolated, and on-the-outside looking in. Most of us turned on our TVs to learn more about what was going on. Continue reading
Huma Abedin and Anthony Weiner
If you work in the Flatiron district of Manhattan, you’ve probably seen Anthony Weiner (the former New York congressman who disgraced himself in a Twitter scandal a few years ago) having lunch on the terrace of the popular hot spot Almond Restaurant on East 22nd Street between Broadway and Park Avenue South.

Korea is in the news again, but not for the reason you are thinking. South Korean K-Pop star Psy is back again. After scoring 1.5 billion hits on YouTube for his internationally-known “Gangnam Style” video, the zany singer is debuting his new song “Gentleman.”
The whole world is watching to see if Psy can duplicate his one-of-a-kind accomplishment.

My career may have been saved today by another 60-year-old-plus woman. Maybe she was even in her 70s. All I know is that I got a renewed respect for myself at the Audio Show today when a senior gal showed up to test the high definition portable audio player my client Astell&Kern was introducing.
Joan Rivers is proving that you don’t have to be a 21-year-old kid to be famous on the Internet. In just a few short months, Joan’s show, In Bed With Joan, is becoming one of the most popular online talk shows. Of course, being vulgar helps draw a crowd.
Guess where I am? Right after work, we drove out to Hampton Bays to meet my brother Steve and sister-in-law Susan to celebrate his birthday, a biggie. Susan and Steve love The Inn Spot, a gourmet restaurant and Inn that sits right on the bay, a short walk from the ocean.
