Don’t shoot the messenger. I’m only reporting the facts. The world is going virtual. You can’t stop progress.
According to my therapist friends, more and more of their patients want to conduct sessions via the telephone. They no longer feel the need to see their counselors face-to-face. Some of my friend’s practices are over 50 per cent virtual.
Why? Therapists claim their clients feel less inhibited to say what’s really on their mind if they are not looking at them. They also say that patients have a better attendance record if they don’t have to commute. They love it, their patients love it.
The world of apps is taking advantage of this trend too. I decided to cut and paste the “TalkSpace Online Counseling” app so you can see how it works. It’s all very civilized.

I lose my iPhone several times a day. I go into a complete panic attack every time. Sometimes I’m holding my iPhone and I think I lost it. It can also be in my pocket or handbag. I just can’t remember the last place I put it.
Life is going to get easier soon. You will be able to use Google to find your phone. This will be true for all formats. We use Google for so many others things, it only makes sense that Google will be able to search for our lost cell phones.
If all goes well, Google says it “will be able to make the phone ring, display a message on the screen for whoever finds it, lock the device or delete all its data.”
At the very least, Google will be able to show you a map on the approximate location of your device. I think that is pretty cool.
Huffington Post explains the new feature in greater depth.

You realize it is just a matter of time that the virtual world is going to take over. You will not know the difference between real and an image projected in front of you. You can’t stop progress.
News came yesterday that Cadillac is going to establish dealership showrooms in the future without one main ingredient, cars.
This should be interesting.
President Johan de Nysschen said in the Wall Street Journal that Cadillac was looking for dealers in their 924 dealer network who were willing to set up showrooms where buyers can learn about automobiles by wearing virtual reality headsets. No need to get behind the wheel. Just imagine the sensation.

I used to think that seniors who dressed like teenagers, looked ridiculous. Now that I’m a senior, I think seniors who dress like teenagers, look terrific. I guess it’s all in the in the point of view.
I found these photos on Facebook. I can’t find the origin, but I’m going to frequently look at them to inspire me. We all need a little boost now and then.
If bookstores could speak, they might quote Mark Twain’s “Reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.” The strongest indication that book stores can still thrive comes from Shanghai. A new bookstore on Star Avenue in the Binjiang District in Hangzhou, China is so magnificent that Architectural Digest just did a story on it.

The progressive bookstore features a multitiered reading area, a lounge, a gallery, and a children’s section. If the rest of the world had bookstores like this, more readers might go back to print.

I have lived on the island of Manhattan for 40 years. I thought I had seen it all, until I spotted two posts on social media sites that told me things about NYC that I never knew.
I wanted to share them with you. Don’t miss this opportunity to find out some startling facts, click here and click here.
And now, for some of my recent photo finds and signs.
We had so much fun tonight in Key West. Friends of friends turned out to be former male super models for Halston and the Marlboro Man. These were the days of Studio 54, decades before the Internet.
It was wonderful to hear about Liza, Warhol and Rubell. It was even more wonderful to see pictures of these guys in their heyday and to know that they still live exciting lives, even in the laid back, calmness of The Keys. Jack, in the center of the above photo, was a businessman.
We went through pages and pages of magazines and books to see these Eileen Ford male models with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. It was also magical to hear how wonderful it was to work for Halston and how much he contributed to the world of fashion.
It was also pretty awesome to stand by a guy in his 60’s (Terry) and realize that you used to see him many moons ago up on a Billboard in Times Square puffing on a cigarette as one of the Marlboro Men.
It seems like it was yesterday, yet it was a lifetime ago.
