West Side Story

Eliot and I finally got to visit the new Hudson Yards today on the Westside of Manhattan. While many New Yorkers are not thrilled with this huge development because of the congestion it may bring to the already overcrowded borough of Manhattan, I have to admit it looks like a city of the future. The public structures, the building designs, and the novel stores in the grand mall, are very different from what you have ever seen before.

The centerpiece of Hudson Yards is a spiral staircase structure called the Vessel. Designed by Thomas Heatherwick, the Vessel provides visitors with new views from different heights, angles and vantage points.

The Shed is a cultural center in Hudson Yards that commissions, produces, and presents a wide range of activities in performing arts, visual arts, and pop culture.

Watch the video of the Vessel and the Shed. We loved watching them from the luxurious QueensYard restaurant in the mall. The restaurant has some of the best Hudson Yard views. The meals were delicious. You can’t go wrong.

Michael Douglas, not.

Look who was at the Vessel today?
She said the air was safe after 9/11. Boy, was she wrong.

The Most Beautiful Video You Have Ever Viewed

Only in Italy could you have a Jewish wedding where a cantor sings an Italian love song in Hebrew.  In this video, it is sung not by Andrea Bocelli but  by a young cantor, and some wonderful children’s voices.

Thank you cousin Marilyn Levine for sharing this with every Digidame reader.

It’s A Sublet Economy

One of the reasons I am writing this blog post today is to let you know that people around the world sublet everything they own just to make extra cash. It’s called the “Airbnb for Everything” age.

Some don’t need the money, but they like to be trendy. It’s cool to rent out your house, your car, your boat, your backyard.

“Boatsetter” is the Airbnb for boats.” Cars are “Turo,” garage storage “Spacer,” private jets “Jettly,” someone’s bed for a midday nap “Globe,” and a dip in someone’s pool is “Swimply.”

Eliot and I saw the movie “Joker” in the 70mm high-resolution format at the “Coral Gables Art Cinema.”

“Gables Cinema” is the only art cinema in the southeastern United States equipped to screen films in 70mm, the high-resolution format that became synonymous with the medium’s epics and films of exceptional visual grandeur. It was so great.

The movie was dark and scary. I was on the edge of my seat the entire performance.

Joaquin Phoenix, Joker, was amazing. He deserves every award possible. I am so happy for him.
