Day And Night

This gorgeous sculpture (Claudio Ciarvolo) is in front of Temple Emanu-El on Washington Avenue and 17th Street, across from the Miami Convention Center. It’s going to be our go to place to remind us of our dear friend Kent who we lost today. We hope to remain close to husband Brian who is a prince of a man. Kent enlisted me to be on the board of the Fisher Institute for Alzheimer’s Research and the publicist for his recent children’s book.

Today At Art Basel

This sculpture by Dada Khanyisa, Capetown, South Africa, being shown at Art Basel, will hopefully be the big winner for us. The companion piece was purchased by Jorge Perez, for Perez Art Museum of Miami. We loved our choice when we saw it a few weeks ago at the Fountainhead Residency. Now it’s ours. Eliot and I feel one day we will get a call for our sculpture to be shown in the Khanyisa collection at some museum as well. Fingers crossed.

Art Basel Buddies

It’s always wonderful bumping into friends at an art exhibit.Today we were lucky to catch up with the very talented artist, John DeFaro (l) art restorer, Viviana Dominguez, (second from right) and a group of their friends.

I turned the corner in the front hall at Art Basel and saw architect Bruce Danzer of Provincetown.

Thank you Sunny Sessa for allowing me to share Sammy’s talents with the DigiDame audience. This video brought absolute joy to me and everyone I showed it to you.

Eliot and I went to see “The Ferryman” Saturday night. Of course, we enjoyed it very much, but we had a star sighting right next to us. This 80 year old plus couple looks damn good.

Takes One to Know One!

I’ve sure gotten old!

I’ve had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes.  I’m half blind, can’t hear anything quieter than a jet engine,

take 40 different medications that

make me dizzy, winded, and subject to

blackouts.  Have bouts with dementia.

Have poor circulation; hardly feel my

hands and feet anymore.  Can’t remember

if I’m 85 or 92.  Have lost all my friends.

But, thank God, I still have my driver’s license

Instagrammers To Play Hide And Seek

This is a warning to all Instagrammers who visit Wyoming state forests and remote lakes. Stop taking selfies and identifying the location of the photo on social media. For social media enthusiasts, this is called Geotagging, or GeoTagging. Wikipedia explains Geotagging as the process of adding a geographical identification to photos on social media platforms so other users can find the same exact location.

According to the New York Times, Brian Modena, board member of the Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism, said the Grand Tetons was under threat from visitors drawn by the beautiful vistas on Instagram.

Modena was quoted as saying “one or two hikers a day would make the nine-mile trek up to Delta Lake. Now, as many as 145 people are hiking there each day to shoot engagement photos and other romantic shots.”

Local folks all over the world claim photo-tourism has led to travelers taking selfies in the most unusual places. There are more visitors in the Louvre in Paris spending time photographing themselves in front of the Mona Lisa than looking at it.

We did that.

Advertising campaigns are beginning to pop up to get tourists to stop geotagging photographs. In order to help the cause, Instagram users have started to use the hashtag #nogeotag.

We are all in this together.

An Evening With Annie Leibovitz

I got chills all over my body tonight when Annie Leibovitz got a standing ovation as she walked on stage at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami. It was wonderful being in an audience where like-minded people appreciated the talents of a woman who has captured some of the greatest moments in pop culture history. The legendary photographer was debuting her newest book, “Annie Leibovitz At Work” at the Miami Book Fair.

Leibovitz shared some remarkable tips to anyone who wants to be a serious photographer. Most of what she said seemed like a lot of common sense to me, but I guess it’s always good to get confirmation from a well-respected leader.

Leibovitz said the most important element in picture taking is the content. People should focus on photos that tell a story. One of the most remarkable things about a photo is that it becomes more meaningful as time goes by. The older it gets, the more you see.

Leibovitz is definitely a renaissance woman. Unlike many photographers who had a difficult time giving up film, Leibovitz has embraced the digital age. She believes in change and is willing to learn new photography methods. She wants to experience every opportunity. Very little intimidates Leibovitz her because her main goal is to capture the beauty of the moment.

That’s why she is so enamored with the smartphone. Leibovitz feels we are living in a remarkable time when we can just take out a pocket camera at any time and shoot. The possibilities are endless.

High Tech Choo Choos

I really felt like I was looking into the future today. Eliot, my friend Steve Greenberg, and I, took a ride on one of this country’s most high tech, and innovative train lines. Called the Brightline, the train service is a high-speed rail system from Miami to West Palm Beach. The Brightline train stations, and the trains themselves, are so elaborate you feel like you are in the first class section of a luxurious airline.

We had powerful, free Wi-Fi in the train stations and on board. The Internet was one of the best ever. They also had wireless printers for passenger use. We also got to relax in the Brightline lounge which featured complimentary, delicious treats and beverages. Brightline staff offered us a variety of snacks and drinks onboard as well. That was after we received personal wash cloths to refresh up.

You can book your Brightline travel on their app, website or ground-level kiosks. Smart turnstiles read barcode tickets or BrightIDs. They are used as security systems that allow passengers to move from one Brightline section to another. They even reschedule passengers to earlier trains if seats are available.

We took the Brightline to Palm Beach today because our actor friend, Harry Redlich, was appearing in “Barefoot in the Park” at the Lake Worth Playhouse. Instead of making the 90 minute drive in our Jeep, we wanted to experience what it would be like to ride in the train of the future. We were delighted when we arrived in West Palm in a little over an hour.

Richard Branson of the Virgin Group is becoming an active partner in helping the Brightline expand to Orlando. In the coming weeks, Brightline is going to be renamed Virgin Trains USA.

Let’s hope Branson will upgrade, cleanup, and employ state-of-the-art technology in every train system he gets involved in. We heard he is now more interested in trains than airlines.

This could be the start of more Americans returning to train travel.

A Facebook Marriage Proposal

I wish I could have included the video, of my friend Adam Becker, proposing to his girl friend Tracey, at the Long Island, NY, gym, where they met. They may have met at a different gym, but why ruin a good story. The entire proposal was documented on Facebook.

I was flabbergasted when I saw Adam, walk over to his girlfriend, kneel down, and propose, while she was working out on a weight machine. It was picture perfect. They both are fitness fanatics, and there couldn’t have been a better place for their formal commitment to each other to start.

While there are many complaints about Facebook lately, I can honestly say, this marriage proposal, is what the social media platform, was intended for. It is a place where people can share milestones and hopes and dreams. Bravo to Adam who made his life a magical journey when he decided to devote his physical and mental energies on himself.

Mazel Tov to Tracey and Adam. We share in your joy.

Printed Photos Are In Vogue

Life is so mysterious. We work like crazy to advance ourselves to the digital world only to desire what we had before. Introducing the KiiPix Smartphone Picture Printer.

I am definitely going to buy one, or maybe, two or three. At $39.99, it makes the perfect gift, especially for children who rarely see printed photos.

All you have to do is place your phone on top of the KiiPix and push a button. Before you do that, you can adjust photos with a filter contrast option, or add all kinds of funny trimmings. After you achieve the photo that you want, you press the button for the print option. It rolls right out. It couldn’t be easier.

Buy the KiiPix on Amazon. For more information, click below.

Next Up For Cataract Surgery

I documented Eliot’s visit to the surgeon at Bascom Palmer in Miami who will perform his cataract procedure in January. I did my two eyes in July. We live in the age of modern miracle medicine. Thank goodness.

GM Is Getting Into E-Bike Biz

General Motors is getting very serious about helping city dwellers, get from point A to point B, without typical major transportation or problems.

The American car manufacturer is actually going to introduce two electric bikes early next year.

One bicycle will be a compact, the other will fold. No details on features and pricing. This is just a heads up.

While GM engineers are designing the bicycles, the company still doesn’t have a brand name.

If you are interested in creating one for the car company, click here.

Give Your Neck A Good Stretch

Before I start my little story, let me remind you not to use the Air Cervical Soft Neck Brace Device without consulting your doctor first.

I love these type of gadgets because my neck always feels tight, especially when I’m under a lot of pressure. My neck has always been where all of my tension seems to settle. For the last 40 years, I have slept with a round neck pillow that I place between my right shoulder and my right arm. I stretch my arm as far out as it will go so my neck does not crunch up while I am sleeping.

It’s wonderful. A good night sleep usually cures neck pain caused by tension. There are times when I can crack my neck first thing in the morning, and then I can feel everything loosen up. Oh, it feels so good. My Uncle Ruby use to let me use his big metal stretching contraption that would hang from a closet door. It would stretch my neck with different amounts of weights. It was great, but very cumbersome.

Today I spotted the Air Cervical Soft Neck Brace Device being introduced on several tech websites. For $30.00, you have a handy gadget that aligns your neck and spine.

Read the benefits here or below.

Again, consult your doctor.
