Facebook’s New Smartphone
The decision makers at Facebook have discovered that more people use their mobile devices to post photos, write comments, and wish each other happy birthday than from computers. If that’s the case, Facebook wants to produce a smartphone that features their social network up close and personal.

I just finished the book,“Kris Jenner …and All Things Kardashian.” I actually listened to it on Audible every day when I took my half hour walk on the treadmill. You can smirk all you want about the Kardashians, but they are a good case study in branding, purpose, and passion. I was eager to listen to Kris Jenner tell her story because I have been involved in so many business discussions where someone asked, “How did the Kardashians ever become so rich and famous?” I even have a very straight-laced, intellectual cousin, Richard Levine, who asks me that question over and over. He thinks I should know the answer because of my background in PR.
I have always been a nervous nelly. That is why I live in an apartment building. I like the idea of a doorman between me and the person coming to see me. I remember one time when we had a weekend house in Quogue, Long Island, my daughter Whitney answered the front door for a Jehovah’s Witness. She was around 10 years old at the time. I was a few feet away, but she ran to the door first. In my mind, someone could have snatched her in the doorway. I flipped out and begged her never to open the front door again unless she knew exactly who was on the other side.

I always feel left out when something new in tech is introduced and I don’t know anything about it. Then I feel worse when I open the various tech periodicals, sites, and blogs to see everyone writing about the new, exciting introduction. I feel like a secret society got together to get clued in and then did the pinky swear thing. No one talks about the new product in the press until the agreed upon date.
This is the time of year that the consistency of a matzoh ball is one of the main topics of discussions around the dinner table. You don’t have to be Jewish to be a connoisseur.

When I was 17 years old, I was still trying to figure out how to take the subway to Manhattan by myself from Hollis, Queens much less selling a company I started a few years earlier to one of the best known brands in the country. Continue reading
