Harlem is Totally Vogue

For months, Gangnam Style was all the rage. Now all you hear about is the Harlem Shake. Some of you have asked me what this is all about.

Both are dance routines that are very expressive. The Harlem Shake is a dance that was actually introduced in 1981 by a Harlem resident named Al B.

Watch the video below to see what the kids are saying about this dance craze.

Augmented Reality Changes Online Shopping Forever

I have been writing this blog for almost a year. There have been some marvelous technology revelations during that time. I think the one I am about to describe is really a mindblower.

Now, for the first time ever, there is an app, for both Android and iOS, that lets you visualize how furniture or art work that you might want to buy from an ecommerce site will look in your home. Aptly called Augment, the “try it on” button on Augment-connected ecommerce sites will overlay the item anywhere you point your smartphone or tablet camera in your home.

Life Blogging Cameras Will Catch You Scratching Your Private Parts

20130310-230550.jpg

Get ready for a life of absolutely no privacy. You may feel like you have none now with credit cards, road tolls, online shopping, GPS, and social media, tracking your every move. That will pale in comparison to everyone you know, and don’t know, taking personal pictures of you everywhere you go.

The Lost Videos

For some reason, the videos from our magical weekend never got posted. Either the site crashed or I goofed. In any case, here they are.

I Should Have Had a Go Pro

20130309-180723.jpg

If there was ever a reason to own a Go Pro, one of those cameras that attach to your helmet, riding a snow mobile is one. Many people who ride bicycles, scooters, and motorcycles own a Go Pro because it records your trails.

Today, riding a snow mobile through Yellowstone Park, I really wished I had popped for the $300+ equipment so that I could show you thrill of the ride. We covered 100 miles of fields of untouched white snow on mountains, trees, lakes, and valleys. Geysers, mud pots, and hot springs. We hiked through the snow to see Old Faithful. It was magnificent.

At 50 miles an hour, you had to hold on tight otherwise off you go. The twists and turns were a little unnerving. I shared a snow mobile with Eliot and had to tap him a few times to slow down.

If I had had a Go Pro, we all could have experienced this together. Next time.

Thank You Larry and Darren

When our cousins Larry Young and Darren Thomas called late last year to ask us to join them on a ski weekend in Jackson Hole, Wyoming this March, we didn’t hesitate a moment to say yes. We are close cousins, but we only see each other twice a year. They both are top real estate agents in Los Angeles and they run 24/7. Boy, have they told us stories.

Blogging from 9,000 Feet

20130308-180228.jpg

We are at the top of a lift on the slopes in Jackson Hole watching everyone take off on their ski runs. Thanks to YouTube, I am able to stack these videos for all of you to see of what I, as a non-skier, am getting to watch for the first time in my life in person. Make sure you watch the hang glider who fails on take-off. Also catch the two- and four-year-olds learning their way around the slopes.

An Emotional Reunion, 24 Hours Offline

Eliot and I just spent two days in Denver visiting Mary Cutrell West, her husband Chris, and their almost seven-year-old son Christopher. This visit was long overdue since we haven’t seen Mary in eight years. She was a nanny for Whitney from the age of nine to sometime before her Bat Mitzvah. Mary was more like a big sister to Whitney. Mary replaced Theresa Ferreira who was with Whitney from seven days old till nine. Then Theresa worked at our PR agency.

JackPod is a Jackpot

Anyone who has ever used a tripod with a smartphone knows that you also need the companion smartphone case to wrap around the device in order to hold everything in place. That was very limiting because you couldn’t use other cases that featured additional power, waterproof designs, and more rugged exteriors.
