The Guttenbergs

I was stunned this morning when I received my daily YouTube recording of the Audiophiliac show with Steve Guttenberg. After so many years knowing him, all of his fans got introduced to Mrs Audiophiliac! She is spectacular. What a delightful surprise. I couldn’t imagine who he was married to considering all of his dedicated interests. It takes a talented and gifted woman to be a great partner. Bravo!

What Exactly Does A Record Producer Do?

This is what a record producer looks like. They come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and sexes. I always wondered what a Broadway producer does?

I guess that’s why I was so drawn to the recent edition of Steve Guttenberg’s Audiophiliac’s podcast. Steve spells it all out with terrific humor and great examples from Billy Joel, the Beatles, and Nora Jones.

If you love music, then give yourself a treat. Listen.

Have fun.

The Audiophiliac And The Self-Proclaimed Ageless Agent

Lois and Steve

I’m getting ready for my 52nd year attending CES. It takes place January 8 to 11, 2019 in Las Vegas. Steve Guttenberg, one of the most respected product reviewers and writers in the audio industry, always gets a chuckle that there truly is a person who has attended every CES. That’s me.

He has interviewed me several times on this subject. Now he has me sounding off on his popular YouTube channel. I am an uncanny cross between Joan Rivers and Joy Behar.

Maybe I will become a social media influencer for seniors who want to work for as long as they possibly can. This virtual business is awesome. I am the best case study for it. No one does it better. I have people who work for me all over the world.

We all work in our PJ’s around the clock and on weekends too. We bring the word “productivity” to a whole new level. Thank you to the awesome Steve Guttenberg for sharing his high profile YouTube platform with me.

Steve’s Audiophiliac Daily Show on YouTube is his latest endeavor, and he’s having so much fun. He does audio reviews ranging from affordable to insanely expensive gear, music reviews, interviews, show reports, and thought pieces. The videos are short, three to five minutes, so they’re easy to digest as they cover just one subject.

Steve has been writing the Audiophiliac blog and reviews for for over 10 years. Before that he freelanced for The Absolute Sound, Audio, Listener, and Home Theater magazines. He currently writes for Sound & Vision and Stereophile magazines. He also worked as a high-end audio salesman in NYC from the late 1970s to the mid 1990s.

Steve is the royal voice of the music industry.

Meet Steve Guttenberg

You probably thought I was talking about the actor, Steve Guttenberg. Nope. I’m talking about Steve Guttenberg, the audiophile.

Wikipedia defines an audiophile as “a person who is enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction. Audiophile values may be applied at all stages of music reproduction: the initial audio recording, the production process, and the playback, which is usually in a home setting.”

Steve is one of the most respected audiophiles in the business. If you go to an audio trade show, you usually see a crowd surrounding him. Everyone is interested in his opinions about new products, his thoughts about the future of music, and how not to spend a fortune, yet get the best sounds out of a home system.

I have been very fortunate to know many audiophiles during my 50-year career. Many of them have been good friends of mine because we worked so closely promoting stereo sound. I got really lucky when I met Steve. He has been very generous with his knowledge of music and has always offered to explain things to me in the simplest of terms. He has a way with words.

Stereophile, a leading magazine that covers high-end audio, recently asked Guttenberg to spell out his perspective on a variety of audio-related topics. He defines the term “audiophile,” while describing why the sounds of music are so important to him.

Give yourself a treat. Watch the video. If you love music, you will love it even more after you hear Steve describes how he listens to music, what it means to him, and names some of the best equipment in the business.

Guttenberg is a true treasure in both the music and audio business. He is passionate, honest and a great story teller. Enjoy!
